Would you care to dance?

If you've never danced with your child, I highly recommend it!
First, you hear this familiar tune, it reminds you of something happy, then you get this feeling that you want to run through the house with a huge grin, hoping you don't trip over a cat in the process, and grab your teenager and wisk her around the room. I got that crazy-eyed look from her as if I came to her high school in my bath robe and curlers, in the middle of lunch.

The music is still goin on in the background and you beg her to dance with her mom. She still has that same look on her face wondering if I overdosed on any antidepressants. She slowly gets up and grabs my hands and asks"what are you doing?" Keep in mind, I look like Snoopy dancing on a Charlie Brown show... and she was going to be my Woodstock whether she wanted to or not. I was going to dance with my child and I was all geared up to do so! I show her a couple of moves and soon enough she was laughing, smiling and continuing to dance with me (voluntarily), but I know she still thought I was a spaz. Well worth it!
I remember one of my fondest memories of my dad dancing with me. He wasn't in the Snoopy pose looking like a spaz or anything...he was much cooler.
He would crank up Waylon Jennings songs from the 70's, singing the songs just like Waylon. Thanks to Comcast Rhapsody, I heard Only Daddy That Will Walk The Line, reminded me of me and my dad dancing around. We would just sing and dance and he would twirl me around so fast I thought that I was going to spin into tomorrow. There were no worries...just us dancing.
So, parents, turn off the tv, put down the phone, the chores can wait for 10 minutes, pick a favorite song, crank it up, and grab your child and dance like crazy! They may think you're a spaz, but it is well worth it. They'll remember it forever!

I dedicate this to my dad, Pat (Big Oly), I'll always remember you.
